Q1) can i play komal surs or flat notes or shudh surs on diatonic mothorgan?
Ans: NO ,diatonic mouthorgan donot haot flat notes .
Q2) if i am not using the changer of my chromatic mouth organ, does it simply mean that i am playing it as if i am using a diatonic...that is only playing the shudh swar. Or does it mean something else.
Ans:Yes. This simply means you are playing Diatonic and playing only Shudh Swaras.
Q3) What does the difference of number of holes in the harmonica mean? What is better...more holes or less holes
Ans: If you have a Harmonica with say 10-Holes as against 18-Holes, then 10-Holes Harmonica will have less range compared to say a 24-Hole Harmonica. With 10-Holes Harmonica you will be somewhat limited and you may not be able to play some songs that require higher octave.
Q: What mouthorgan is best...if i am a beginner and want to buy one....
Ans:For starting now, buy a Hero 24-Hole Chinese Diatonic Harmonica . And after you have sufficent practice then you may buy Chromatic Harmonica with a slide changer. But for now, 24-Holes Diatonic should be good enough. Actually with 24-Holes Chinese Hero mouth organ almost 80 percent of old Hindi songs can be played. So for now, you may practice on a 24-Hole Chinese Diatonic mouth organ until a get a good handle over it.
Q. what is the best quality mouth organ that professions use and what is the cost.
The best quality mouth organ is of course made by HOHNER Brand which is Made in Germany. But Hohner Brand mouth organs are very expensive. Like 18-Hole Chromatic Hohner Mouth Organ will cost approximately Rs. 5000 (Five thousand). But you can get some cheaper Chinese Barnd Chromatic Mouth Organs which also should serve the purpose for now instead of buying an expensive Hohner Brand.
Q. I have seen a two sided small mouth organ...please tell me about it.
Yes. I had bought a 2-sided Chinese Mouth Organ (Parrot Brand) few years back. This means on one side you have a range starting with lower octave and on second or other side, they give a range with higher octave. So with this double-sided, you get more flexibilty to play songs requiring different octaves using same mouth organ. Of course, at any given time, you can play only one side.
Q.I movies like sholay, the mouth organ played is very small in size...i want to know what kind of mouth organ is this....i like the high pitched sound it produces...my mouthorgan does not have such a sweet sound.
The mouth oragn shown in the movie Sholay (in the song YE DOSTI) was a 10-Hole Diatonic. But that was only shown in the song that way. In reality, when the song was recorded in the studio by Music Director R.D.Burman, he must have used a different high-pitched mouth organ. That mouth organ piece was played by R.D.Burman himself. in YE DOSTI song. R.D. Burman loved to play Mouth Organ and was extremely good at it as in Hai Apna Dil To Awara Song.
